University of Hull

The University of Hull is a place of bold ideas, transformative research, and real-world impact. For nearly 100 years, it has been shaping lives and futures through academic excellence and innovation.

Building on its rich heritage, Hull places cutting-edge research, knowledge exchange and inclusive teaching at the heart of its strategy, empowering students and staff to tackle global challenges and drive positive change.

Located in the dynamic Humber region, the University is a national leader in flood resilience, renewable energy, palliative and wound care, mental health and addiction, and social justice and the fight against modern slavery. Its research informs UK policy, supports global sustainability goals, and helps shape thriving communities.

Its expertise is helping to build the world’s largest wind farms, influence national flood investment strategies, protect coastal communities, and prepare students for careers in growth sectors like AI, climate resilience, and human rights. Through the Humber Modern Slavery Partnership, the University works with regional police forces and government bodies to protect human rights and bring perpetrators to justice

The University is home to pioneering research centres tackling some of society’s most pressing health challenges. Among them is the £48 million Wound Innovation Centre, a world-class facility dedicated to advancing diagnostics and treatments for chronic wounds. By bringing together researchers and clinicians, the Centre accelerates the translation of breakthrough discoveries into real-world clinical solutions.

Also leading the way is the £11 million Centre for Addiction and Mental Health Research, which focuses on improving service delivery and access to care. Through clinical studies and collaborative research, the Centre develops practical solutions for both young people and adults. It will expand research capacity across the region and the UK, supporting hundreds of thousands of individuals in need of effective treatment.

“Each of our institutions brings world-class research expertise and graduate-level education that attracts global talent and underpins local industries, public services, and cultural life. By working together and engaging proactively, we can make a stronger contribution to public and policy discussions on research, innovation, higher education and advanced skills, supporting both policymakers and the public good

“At the University of Hull, we’re proud to contribute through our leadership in areas of real-world impact, from renewable energy and flood resilience to palliative care and wound care, mental health and addiction research and the fight against modern slavery.”
