Identifying risks and solutions
Hull’s research on the cost of school exclusions
School exclusion is a key factor in the likelihood of becoming NEET. University of Hull researchers, collaboration with the University of Bristol, helped produce a major report showing that children who are suspended or excluded from school face significantly higher risks of becoming involved in violence and offending. The study highlights the need for earlier support to improve attendance, reduce exclusions and help vulnerable children stay on track, potentially reducing later harm.
