A university dedicated to opportunity
Open University approach is driven by creating chances for people whatever background and barriers
The Open University is globally renowned as an innovator in creating opportunities for anyone who wants to learn, regardless of whether they lack traditional qualifications, have caring responsibilities, disabilities or health conditions, or are in prison – all key risk factors for NEETs.
Starting with free informal learning opportunities (such as the OpenLearn platform, JobCentrePlus schemes or TV and radio programmes created in partnership with the BBC), people can explore education and build confidence at their own pace as it fits their life. Through the OU’s open entry, there are no formal entry requirements to embark on a degree which they can study flexibly from anywhere – even parts of the country where other opportunities are limited.
