City St George's, University of London

City St George’s, University of London is the University of business, practice and the professions.
We build leaders for the world of work. We undertake research at the frontier of practice. We are the opposite of an ivory tower – open, engaged, and embedded in London. We are a flexible, high-performing learning organisation.
We are proud of our identity and heritage as a professional university. Our commitment is outward-facing, engaged with the world, and shaped by partnership. We are distinctive in how we educate, in the kinds of research we undertake, and in the values that guide our community.
In August 2024, City, University of London merged with St George’s, University of London creating a powerful multi-faculty institution. The combined university is now one of the largest higher education destinations for London students and one of the largest suppliers of the health workforce in the capital.
Our campuses are spread across London in Clerkenwell, Moorgate and Tooting, where we share a clinical environment with a major London teaching hospital.
Our mission is stable and enduring. We provide technical and professional education that is of the highest quality, strongly connected to practice, and socially purposeful. We are committed to advancing knowledge, improving health and wellbeing, supporting enterprise, and shaping professions.
Our research is engaged, translational and at the frontier of practice. It is inspired by real-world problems, shaped by professional engagement, and aimed at delivering impact. We seize the opportunity to carry out interdisciplinary research which will have positive impact on the world around us.
Our students are at the heart of everything that we do, and we are committed to supporting them to go out and get good jobs. City St George’s has been ranked as one of the top 20 universities in the UK for graduate employability highlighting the university’s strategic commitment to preparing students for the world of work.
We pursue our mission with a particular concern for access and social mobility. We provide opportunities for students whose talent and effort should enable them to thrive, whatever their background. Many of our 27,000 students are the first in their family to enter higher education, and many balance study with work and family commitments. We create conditions that support their success, combining flexibility with high standards and ambition.
Over 175,000 former students in over 170 countries are members of the City St George’s Alumni Network.
City St George’s is led by Professor Sir Anthony Finkelstein.

Professor Sir Anthony Finkelstein, President of City St George’s, said:
"Like our ResearchPlus partners, we have outstanding research teams and specialist areas that are recognised as world-leading. This collaborative will amplify our collective voice and provide the opportunity to work together as research-focused universities to drive change in the higher education sector.
The UK has achieved its position in research and innovation because it has a diverse higher education system, but it needs to hear the voices of all parts of that system if it is to maintain that position."
